Fish the Feather River and over 1000 miles of streams and lakes in the Plumas National Forest !

• The undammed Middle Fork of the Feather River was one of the first rivers to receive the "Wild and Scenic" designation from the State of California. Back in the 1970s, the river was part of the original Wild Trout program in the state.
• Native rainbow trout are the predominant game fish in Plumas County, but brown and brook trout are also established. Eagle Lake trout are found in many of the major lakes. Plumas County lakes are open to fishing year-round. The stream season usually opens on the last Saturday of April and closes in mid-November.
• The Feather River Canyon is well-known for its rainbow and brown trout populations, and its limited-access restrictions mean you can often fish for hours without seeing signs of another angler.
• From Aspen Circle, it's easy to get to the back country on the Middle Fork of the Feather... or east to Lake Davis and Frenchman Lake... or to Yellow Creek... or to Bucks Lake... or to the Lakes Basin south of Graeagle... or to dozens of other rivers and streams.
• This is a paradise for catch-and-release fly fishing, and trophy fish are not uncommon. Caddis are plentiful along the Middle Fork... so bring along some of those Elk Hair Caddis flies you've been waiting to try out! In the fall, the mayfly hatches will reward you for bringing along those nymph patterns you worked on during the summer months.
